Player Video Analysis

2010 PVA

PLAYER VIDEO

ANALYSIS

DARRYL BELFRY

What is it?

The PVA (Player Video Analysis) is the only game performance measurement, tracking and
benchmarking system in hockey. It is your only way to accurately assess your current level of
game performance and track improvement measures. The customized measurements ensure that
the performance benchmarks we set reflect your development direction.

Why is it important?

How do you know you played well? How do you know the work you put in the off-season is
translating into improved game performance? How well do you know your tendencies, your
game patterning, your habits, your automated responses in recurring situations, your acceleration
efficiency, your optimum shot locations, your gap control, your per shift value, and whether or
not your strength training translates into hockey situations, or anything else you might want to
know.

The PVA can fast forward your ability to translate off-ice training, skill development, and new
game patterning into enhanced game performance. You can accurately measure your
performance at whatever frequency is important to you and track your improvement.

It is important for me to then use the results to create an in-season and off-season development
plan to maximize your training. One of the biggest challenges in strength and conditioning and
skill development is measuring its game translation. I can use the PVA to share specific
performance clips and measurements to illustrate whether or not improvements you have made in
skill, strength, power, recovery and movement efficiency are translating into improved game
performance with all your off-season coaches.

How does it work?

NHL Players:

I have access to a secure site that allows me to download any game that is played during the NHL
season. Once we determine your analysis frequency then I will pull the games and run your
analysis.

After measuring a game, your clips and statistics for the game will be added to a password
protected site that hosts your profile. You will then get an email notifying you that a game has
been analyzed and uploaded for you to review.

There is a feature on your profile which allows you to request a discussion in which we can
engage in an instant message discussion on any video on your site.
We will also use your profile page to upload all your off-season skill development, as well as all
your in-season development clips.

AHL/CHL/NCAA/USHL/Europeans and Minor Hockey Players:

For you guys, the process is the same, except I don’t have the same internet access to download
your video, so you have two choices; 1) you can mail me DVD video of your games or 2)you can
follow our upload instructions and upload the video from your computer to our server and we can
work with it from there.

What does it measure?

Here are the measurements that we take for both Forwards and Defensemen.
